Seasons & Routines… Back to Basics

One of the biggest skin concerns we deal with at this time of the year is DRYNESS. Besides being an irritating infliction, it is a very normal one to experience.

We can attribute dryness to a varying number of factors, but for the sake of this newsletter I am going to stick to an area we all lapse in from time to time... our home care routine.

Here is a reminder of what is important and why:

  1. CLEANSE with a pH balanced cleansing milk or gel to remove surface oils, make-up & pollution. This will maintain the skin’s integrity and help keep hydration levels up as well as preparing the skin for optimal absorption of a serum and/or moisturiser. *TIP: find a pH balanced cleanser that contains AHA’s or keratolytic ingredients to assist with getting rid of dead skin cells that build up on the surface. That way, you will do 3 steps (cleanse, tone & exfoliate) with one product – saving time & money!
  2. MOISTURISE with a good quality, active product that provides stimulation and nourishment to the skin cells as well as maintains the skins outer barrier thus preventing further loss of moisture. *TIP: hyaluronic acid is a great ingredient to look for as it will ensure longer, more sustained hydration levels. It plumps up the skin cells and reducing the visibility of fine lines.
  3. SERUM. Whilst the above 2 steps are essential to your day to day routine, a serum will boost the activity of the skin even further. Depending on what skin concern you would like to treat; there are a few different options available. *TIP: We love Retinol as a serum on the skin due to its superior ability to ensure regular cell turnover, decrease signs of pigmentation, improve the ageing process, improve hydration levels, assist in clearing breakouts and give the skin an overall brightness.

NEW TREATMENT ANNOUNCEMENT

Pure Aesthetics is now offering the very exciting Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Replacement Treatment which involves extracting your own blood, extracting the platelet rich plasma which is full of growth hormone (it’s literally liquid gold for your skin) and needling (using our Dermapen) this back into your skin. PRP is one of the most effective skin rejuvenation methods as it stimulates rapid skin repair and induces further collagen replacement.

The effect is even more powerful when combined with the Dermapen micro-needling treatment, as we can ensure deeper penetration of the plasma. You can expect a rejuvenated looking skin that has fewer visible fine lines, improved visible hydration and evident radiance. PRP treatment can also be used for hair restoration.
